CO-CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Doug plays an integral role in leading the Pollard team in the instant ticket category and has demonstrated an ability to provide insight and “vision” to the industry on a whole as a regularly featured speaker at NASPL and WLA events covering topics ranging from “bricks & mortar” retail development to the adaptation of emerging technologies and social media as drivers of instant ticket revenues.
Through nearly 15 years leading to his appointment as Co-Chief Executive Officer in 2011, Doug has demonstrated leadership in the lottery industry in a variety of roles ranging from managing an international Pollard subsidiary in Paris, France (Imprimerie Spéciale de Banque), which provided lottery tickets for France, Eastern Europe, and Africa, to running the company’s lottery management efforts in Michigan, Maryland, Arizona, Saskatchewan, and Puerto Rico.
Doug Pollard is focused on achieving excellence in all aspects of company operations. He summarizes Pollard Banknote’s customer-centric philosophy as follows: “We must earn our clients’ trust as a partner and bring forth relevant ideas that will drive their sales and excite their customers.”
Prior to joining Pollard Banknote, Doug was a senior consultant with Price Waterhouse Cooper in their supply chain management group. He worked on projects in the hospitality and consumer products industries that emphasized business process redesign of core order fulfillment processes (raw material purchasing, shipping, invoicing, and cash collection).
Doug holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba. In addition to English, he is fluent in Spanish and French.
CO-CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
John Pollard has served as Co-Chief Executive Officer since 1997, moving from the position of Vice President, Operations, which he had held for 11 years.
He is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba, and worked for the accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche (now Deloitte) before joining Pollard Banknote.
John Pollard has overall responsibility for manufacturing, technical support, and financial operations for all locations of the company.
John holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree (1983) from the University of Manitoba.
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, SALES AND CUSTOMER DEVELOPMENT
Jennifer provides a vision for marketing our products and managing relationships with our customers. She has been at the forefront of Pollard’s tenfold growth during her more than twenty years with the company. With this experience, she provides strategic direction and leadership for our company and our clients.
Jennifer’s scope of responsibilities includes overseeing product innovation and development. Her hands-on role in the creation of Pollard Banknote’s industry-changing innovations such as our patented Fusion® games and highly successful Scratch FX® is proof that her talent for identifying top-selling opportunities can result in great gains for our clients. Her passion for driving innovation serves well in governing the company’s exploration into today’s new and emerging technologies.
Jennifer believes that these frontiers—from online gaming avenues to enhanced instant ticket options like Social InstantsTM—hold tremendous promise for our clients as they strive to strengthen current lottery portfolios and unearth new revenue streams.
Prior to joining Pollard, Jennifer held management positions with Booz Allen & Hamilton and with Ernst & Young. Jennifer Westbury graduated with a BA and an MBA from Rice University in Houston, Texas. She also studied at Oxford University in England.
Executive Vice President, Operations
Rob boasts more than 25 years of senior management experience at both the general management and executive level. As Pollard Banknote’s Executive Vice President, Operations, he has corporate responsibility for the Manufacturing, Pre-Press, and Information Systems departments at all of our instant ticket production facilities.
Rob has had a successful 30-year career in printing, working at some of the largest firms in North America. Rob also has previous experience in the lottery industry from the first stop in his career at British American Banknote, where he rose to Director of Sales in their Instant Lottery Printing Group.
Rob oversees all aspects of production and serves as the single point of executive leadership for the integrated coordination of production scheduling. His knowledge of production, manufacturing, print efficiency, waste management and cost management makes Rob an invaluable member of the Pollard team and for our clients.
Rob holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario. He sits on the board of the Manitoba Print Industry Association. Manufacturing & Technology Committee of Magazines Canada.
Executive Vice President, Manufacturing
Bob brings 25 years of lottery experience and has managed manufacturing operations at Pollard Banknote plants in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. He has been an integral part of the growth Pollard Banknote has experienced over the years, moving from a small, private, family-owned business to the second-largest instant ticket producer in the world.
Bob is responsible for manufacturing in our Barrhead, Sault Ste. Marie, and Council Bluffs plants. In addition, he is responsible for our corporate quality, health and safety, environment, security, scheduling, and human resources functions.
Bob joined Pollard Banknote in 1988 as Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Development. Within six months, he was promoted to Vice-President, Manufacturing at Pollard Banknote’s Winnipeg facility.
In 1996, Bob took on the role of Managing Director of Imprimerie Spéciale de Banque in France, where he managed the transition of the plant to Pollard Banknote ownership.
Following his return to Canada in 1998, Bob accepted responsibility for our plants in Winnipeg and Barrhead. His responsibilities were subsequently expanded to include other Pollard Banknote manufacturing facilities and support services.
He holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Social Work, both from the University of Manitoba.
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, FINANCE
Rob Rose joined Pollard Banknote in 1994 as Corporate Controller and was promoted to Vice President, Finance in 1996. He now serves as Executive Vice President, Finance, and Chief Financial Officer reporting to John Pollard. His areas of responsibility cover all finance and accounting matters, including external financial reporting, accounting and internal information reporting, treasury, capital management, taxation, purchasing, mergers and acquisitions, pensions and employee benefits, internal audit and investor relations.
In his capacity as Chief Financial Officer, Rob led the team responsible for the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Pollard Banknote in 2005, which resulted in the previously private family company selling a portion to the investing public and transitioning the Pollard group from a private family operation to that of a publicly entity. He continues to be responsible for all regulatory and securities issues relating to the conduct of Pollard Banknote as a publicly traded corporation.
In 2010 he led Corporate Conversion of the Pollard group, converting the organization from the public income trust model into a corporate structure to help further enhance the future growth of Pollard.
Rob has also headed up the acquisition of two large foreign companies during his time at the company and has played an important role in their ensuing integration and growth as a part of the Pollard group.
Prior to 1994, Rob served for 13 years in increasingly senior roles with the accounting firm KPMG.
Rob has a B. Comm. (Honours) from the University of Manitoba and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba, obtaining his Chartered Accountant's designation in 1984.
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, LEGAL AFFAIRS & GENERAL COUNSEL
Riva Richard joined Pollard Banknote in December 2010. Before joining Pollard Banknote, Riva served as Vice President, Legal Affairs, and Corporate Secretary of Canwest Global Communications Corp. Prior to that, Riva practiced as a corporate law associate with the Toronto office of McCarthy Tetrault LLP.
Riva received her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Civil Law degrees from McGill University, and holds an undergraduate business degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. She is a member of the Ontario and Manitoba Bars, and in 2005 was named as one of Canada’s “Top 40 Corporate Counsel: 40 and Under 40” by Lexpert Magazine.
