Pollard Banknote Awarded Innovation In Print By The Manitoba Print Industry

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, November 13, 2013 /CNW/ – Pollard Banknote Limited (TSX: PBL) (Pollard Banknote) is pleased to announce that it has recently been honoured with the Innovation in Print award at the Manitoba Print Industry Association’s first annual “Name in Print” awards banquet.

While Pollard Banknote is a world-class instant ticket supplier with a global reach, serving over 50 national, state, and provincial lotteries around the world, it remains a Manitoba-based family business with approximately 700 employees based at its headquarters in Winnipeg and over 1,100 in North America. Over nearly three decades in the instant ticket business, Pollard Banknote has proven to be a driver of instant ticket innovation and has brought some of the most important, revenue-generating print innovations to the lottery industry. Many of these innovations have become exceptional products, leading the industry in new directions and generating billions of dollars in sales for its clients worldwide.

The company’s industry-transforming innovations—such as its translucent marking system, Scratch FX®, and Fusion® games—can be seen at lottery counters worldwide. Now widely accepted as an industry standard, Pollard Banknote’s translucent marking system enhances the ease of play and overall entertainment value of crossword and bingo instant tickets, and is quite simply the very best extended play marking system available today. The company’s patented Scratch FX® adds sparkle and shine to instant tickets for a visual appeal and brilliance that exceeds that of foil, holographic foil and metallic inks, and ultimately captures attention in the retail environment. Another print innovation from Pollard Banknote, the Pollard PlayBook®, brings multiple games together in a unique booklet format, enabling players to try a number of different games in one product. Each of these innovative products focus on offering value to players that translates into incremental sales for Pollard Banknote’s clients.

“Pollard Banknote is honoured to receive this formal recognition of our company’s innovative spirit from the Manitoba print community,” said Doug Pollard, Co-Chief Executive Officer. “One of our company’s key objectives is to foster a culture of creativity and innovation in order to adapt to the ever-evolving lottery industry. To achieve this, we rely strongly on a talented and dedicated team of expert engineers, mechanics, production professionals, and new product development staff who have been extremely successful at developing proprietary products that have made Pollard Banknote a leader in instant ticket innovation. Through our network of clients, these ‘home-grown’ innovations are showcased around the world.”

The “Name in Print” awards banquet was held on November 7, 2013, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Awards were presented for the categories of Innovation in Print, Training and Development, Builder, Industry Development, and Milestone. The organizer of these awards, the Manitoba Print Industry Association, under the impetus of Executive Director, Barry Miller, is a non-profit industry-based organization created to address the human resources and training needs of the printing industry in Manitoba. Pollard Banknote is one of over 50 members of this association, which includes print companies, community newspapers, print suppliers, and educational suppliers.
