Manager, Maintenance

We are looking for a dedicated and driven individual to lead our Maintenance team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, who has the passion to lead, manage and motivate a team of approximately 25, consisting of; supervisors, lead hands, millwrights, electricians, building services and housekeeping staff.

Reporting to the VP Technical, this role will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to the department, ensuring upkeep of plant equipment and the facility within a challenging and exciting 24/7 manufacturing environment.  The maintenance manager will oversee the development and implementation of effective maintenance programs utilizing industry best practices.    

What you will do

  • Ensure employees are provided with a safe and healthy working environment and adhere to all safety and quality standards and practices   
  • Collaborate, mentor, and motivate team members to achieve their full potential and deliver exceptional services to internal and external stakeholders
  • Manages department resources to deliver the maximum value in support of production and project needs and overall business objectives – defines, measures and tracks key performance metrics
  • Develops and implements effective preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs, ensuring maximum equipment availability in a 24/7 production environment
  • Collaborate with internal manufacturing stakeholders (Press, Finishing, Lab, Security, Shipping & Receiving and others) with trouble shooting and breakdown response
  • Drive department continuous improvement, standardization and process initiatives
  • Understand the corporate vision for the maintenance department and set appropriate goals and objectives for the maintenance team

What you will need

  • Engineering education or relevant Red Seal trade qualification
  • 10 years of direct maintenance management in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully managing preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance
  • An effective and influential communicator, able to develop clear and concise justifications in support of departmental and company objectives
  • Organized, with significant ability to handle multiple issues, projects and stressors at any one time
  • A genuine willingness to work with others at all levels within the organization, to foster a respectful and inclusive team atmosphere
  • A lead-by-example attitude that will engage both subordinates and leaders and foster collaboration
  • Strong decision-making abilities to assess options carefully, while making decisions appropriate to the situation at hand
