Cloud Platform Engineer

We’re looking for a proactive Cloud Platform Engineer to join our Information Systems team within our Winnipeg Office.

As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the creation and updates of automation for deploying and managing our cloud platform resources.  This involves collaborating with IT Governance for financial responsibility, working with IT Security for secure architectures, coordinating with Solution Architecture for best-fit designs, and engaging with Application/DevOps Engineering Teams for tailored solutions. Additionally, partnership with IT Infrastructure ensures adherence to best practices and guidelines.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide oversight and analysis to FinOps processes to ensure continued cost efficiency.
  • Track AWS resources to ensure they are sized appropriately and are actively being used.  Propose changes for underutilized instances or services.
  • Use tagging and governance abilities of AWS to support cost allocation reporting.
  • Make recommendations for savings plans and reserved instances.
  • Understand customer requirements and project KPIs on behalf of the Cloud Platform group.
  • Monitor the Cloud Platform processes during the entire lifecycle for its adherence and updating or creating new processes for improvement and minimizing wastage.
  • Identify and deploy cybersecurity measures by continuously performing vulnerability assessments and risk management.
  • Incidence management and root cause analysis
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues from triage, to assessment, to completion.
  • Coordinate and communicate within the team and with its clients.
  • Managing periodic reporting on the progress to management and clients
  • Review dashboards and logs daily, weekly, and monthly and action any issues
  • Provide level 2 technical support for the Cloud Platform resources.
  • Perform project coordination with clients and other Tech Services groups to ensure work to planned, tracked, and completed.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Computer Engineering or equivalent education
  • ITIL certification is an asset      .
  • 3 years of experience in a developer operations capacity for large organizations
  • Knowledgeable regarding container technology including kubernetes, especially EKS.
  • Proficient in creation and management of AWS resources.
  • Proficient with change control tools
  • Proficient with trouble shooting tools.
  • Proficient with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Proficient with scripting languages such as bash
