WINNIPEG, Manitoba, September 22, 2016 /CNW/ – Pollard Banknote Limited (TSX: PBL) (“Pollard Banknote”) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a new three-year contract by the South Dakota Lottery as a secondary printer of instant game tickets. The contract, which commenced on August 30, 2016, includes the option of three additional one-year extensions.
As a new addition to Pollard Banknote’s client list, the South Dakota Lottery will now have the opportunity to leverage the company’s value-added strategic marketing services as well as revenue-boosting products such as its successful Scratch FX®, the Pollard PlayBook®, and numerous digital offerings. Scratch FX® adds sparkle and shine to an instant ticket for a visual appeal that exceeds that of foil and metallic inks and achieves maximum impact at retail. The Pollard PlayBook® brings multiple games together in a booklet format, optimizing play value. These sales-driving print innovations, along with Pollard Banknote’s digital offerings that add exciting interactive play, have the potential to broaden the Lottery’s player base.
“We are very pleased that the South Dakota Lottery has chosen us as an instant ticket supplier,” said Jennifer Westbury, Executive Vice President, Sales & Customer Development, Pollard Banknote. “We are eager to collaborate with the Lottery to help identify opportunities that will drive growth and revenue using our innovative print and interactive products.”
“Pollard Banknote has an industry-wide reputation providing innovative entertainment products as well as value-added services to lotteries and their players,” said Norman Lingle, Executive Director, South Dakota Lottery. “We look forward to working together to explore the company’s instant and digital offerings and determine which products will best fit our market and, ultimately, help contribute revenue for the benefit of South Dakotans.”
In 1987, South Dakota legislators authorized the creation of the South Dakota Lottery, its commission and the sale of instant tickets. The Lottery sold its first instant ticket six months later. In FY2015, the Lottery transferred more than $112 million to the state’s General Fund and Capital Construction Fund in support of projects important to South Dakotans, such as education, natural resource development projects, responsible gaming initiatives and others.
