Iowa Lottery Awards Pollard Banknote New Contract For Pull-tab Tickets

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, May 27, 2014 /CNW/ – Pollard Banknote Limited (TSX: PBL) (Pollard Banknote) is pleased to announce that it has been chosen to continue as the Iowa Lottery’s supplier of pull-tab tickets and related services. Beginning April 2014, this new one-year contract provides the Lottery the option of exercising three additional one-year extensions. The contract value, including extensions, is estimated at $2.1 million (USD).

This contract award builds upon the 27-year partnership between American Games and the Iowa Lottery. Over this period, American Games has produced hundreds of pull-tab games for the Lottery. As well, Pollard Banknote also supplies the Iowa Lottery with instant scratch tickets, including some of the company’s patented and specialty products, such as Scratch FX® and the Lottery’s award-winning Game Book, a Pollard PlayBook® product.

“American Games is thrilled to continue its relationship with the Iowa Lottery,” said Steven Fingold, Vice President, Sales, American Games. “In 1987, American Games began developing pull-tab games as a new product for the Iowa Lottery. Since that time, we have enjoyed an uninterrupted working relationship with the Lottery and feel a sense of accomplishment in playing a major role in the development of its pull-tab product line. To date, we have delivered well over a billion tickets to the Iowa Lottery; a number that will continue to climb.”

“We’re happy to be working with American Games, an Iowa-based business, as our pull-tab printer,” said Larry Loss, Executive Vice President, Iowa Lottery. “American Games has played an important role in the development of the Iowa Lottery’s pull-tab business with entertaining products that offer our players great value. Having worked with us since the product line’s beginning, American Games continues to offer market knowledge that can be leveraged to raise more funds for good causes in the state.”

Since its inception in 1985, the Iowa Lottery has raised more than $1.5 billion for state programs that benefit all Iowans. Today, lottery proceeds are allocated to three main causes: support for veterans, help for a variety of significant projects through the state General Fund, and backing for the Vision Iowa program, which was implemented to create tourism destinations and community attractions, and build and repair schools.
